Five New Volvos Boast 'IHHS 2012 TOP SAFETY PICK' Title

Volvo has built its reputation on extreme safety. The legacy continues with five new Volvo models featured on the "IIHS 2012 TOP SAFETY PICK" list: the Volvo S80, Volvo S60, Volvo C30, Volvo XC60, and Volvo XC90. That represents over half of all the models in the entire Volvo lineup!

Each of these highly-esteemed Volvo models earned "Good" ratings in all four of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's four crash tests: front offset, side impact, roof strength and rear-crash protection. Among a crowd of perfectionist Volvo drivers, "Good" might not sound all that great. However, Smothers European Volvo assures you it's is the best rating the IIHS awards any automaker - ever.

So, what exactly makes the Volvo S80, Volvo S60, Volvo C30, Volvo XC60, and Volvo XC90 such prime examples of safety? We could say, it's that all five come with standard side airbags and stability control. However, that wouldn't even be an eighth of it. Yes, it's the airbags and stability control, but it's also the vehicles' highly-protective body and advanced systems such as adaptive cruise control with queue assist and distance alert, and collision warning with full auto brake and pedestrian detections.

See, while the Volvo S80, Volvo S60, Volvo C30, Volvo XC60 and Volvo XC90 might offer premium protection to drivers and passengers, they're also designed to prevent crashes. More than that, they're made to protect other drivers, as well as pedestrians. Does your vehicle do that?
