Volvo S60 Performance Project Boasts 330 Horsepower

While we don't expect to see a production run anytime soon, we here at Smothers European Volvo have not stopped ourselves from feasting our eyes on the new Volvo S60 Performance Project, which was recently unveiled by Volvo's Australian branch. The vehicle is based on the S60 T6 R Design, and to create it, Volvo teamed with two other companies: Polestar and Heico.

"The S60 T6 already boasts excellent performance credentials and the S60 Performance Project takes that even further," said Volvo Car Australia Managing Director Matt Braid. "With the extra power, torque and unique wheels and exhaust system the S60 Performance Project really is a very special edition S60."1

For the vehicle's performance tweaks, Volvo turned to industry vets Polestar. They finely tuned the electronic software found in the T6 engine to achieve an additional 24-hp from it. This brings the vehicle's total output to 330 horsepower (hp), with a total torque of 453 lb-ft.

Heico was brought in to make some minor, but sleek changes to the exterior. While the vehicle's exterior modifications were limited, a huge impact was made through the addition of 19-inch Heico wheels, Pirelli tires, and quad exhaust tail pipes.

Inside, the Volvo S60 Performance Project's cabin remains untouched. Rather than make a slew of chances, Volvo decided to stick with the traditional R Design cabin, which features sports seats with firmer side bolstering, aluminum ridged pedals, and a three-spoke steering wheel.

While the Volvo S60 Performance Project remains out of reach, there is still plenty of performance to be had in many other new Volvo models found at Smothers European Volvo, located at 2881 Corby Avenue in Santa Rosa, CA. And, remember to keep checking back for more Volvo news, coming soon!
